Why Use NWDP?

What Causes Cavity Wall Insulation to fail?

There are a number of reasons as to why your Cavity Wall Insulation could have failed including

Dry Slumping: Dry slumping happens quite quickly after installation of Fibre CWI and how much it slumps depends on how well it is installed. A poor or loose fill will slump considerably more than a tightly packed fill and has been known to drop down by at least 30cm leaving the top of your wall without any insulation at all after a very short period of time

Wet Slumping: Wet slumping of Fibre CWI is when even a tightly packed fill can slump due to water penetration that could have been caused by any number of separate issues such as leaking gutters or roofline. Fibre cavity wall insulation is not waterproof so if saturated can slump (drop) by as much as 50%

Incorrecty Installed Insulation: Up to now we have only covered issues such as slumping which only happens with Fibre cavity wall insulation. However, even if you've opted for a more popular, modern cavity wall insulation product such as polyurethane foam it can still fail if poorly installed by an amateur.

Other reasons include incorrectly drilled entry holes or a low blowing pressure which can lead to cavities, cold spots and condensation build up. Unfortunately, this type of issue can't be easily fixed so full removal and correct installation is usually recommended.
